Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine's joint brigade of 4,000 troops will be operational in 2017

Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine Monday said a joint brigade called Litpolukrbrig of 4,000 troops would be operational next year Polish Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz said Monday. While Lithuania and Poland are NATO and EU members, Ukraine is not but has been a part of the defense alliance's Partnership for Peace eastern outreach program since 1994.
Negotiations on the trilateral military brigade LITPOLUKRBRIG which is intended to contribute to regional and wider international security began in 2007.
