Russian Defense Industry unveils its new tracked combat unmanned ground (UGV) vehicle called "Uran-9", offering fire power and mobility of armoured infantry fighting vehicle. In 2016, Russian state arms export agency Rosoboronexport will start to promote the Uran-9 for the international market.

Russia’s major defence company Almaz-Antei and India’s private enterprise Reliance Defence signed an agreement to develop, manufacture and maintain air defence systems and radars for the Indian armed forces, the Reliance Defence company’s press service reports.

Russia has signed an agreement with Egypt for delivery of forty-six Kamov Ka-52K navalized attack helicopters, the Director General of the JSC Russian Helicopters holding company, Alexander Mikheyev, said on Wednesday. The Ka-52K Katran (Nato reporting name: Hokum-B) is the naval variant of the Ka-52 Alligator designed for the French-made Mistral LHDs which the Egyptian Navy recently acquired (and which were originally intended for the Russian Navy).
The Russian air task force has destroyed a shelter housing the 9K33 Osa (NATO reporting name: SA-8 Gecko) air defense missile system terrorists captured from the Syrian army, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday, December 31, 2015.

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) released pictures showing the brand new Aquitaine class FREMM Frigate Provence sailing alongside USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and the Charles de Gaulle in the Persian Gulf. Following a short port-of-call in Djibouti, the Provence frigate integrated the Truman Carrier Strike Group (CSG) (Task Force 58) on December 23rd, and crossed the Ormuz strait to enter the Gulf region on December 26th.
Around 1,000 sets of new generation Ratnik combat gear have been supplied to the Southern Military District in 2015, Andrei Gurulyov, 58th Army Commander, has told TASS. The Ratnik is a project of Future Soldier system for the Russian army.

The DT-10PM is a two-sections tracked carrier vehicle designed and manufactured by the Russian Company Vityaz. The project of DT-10 was launched in 1982 to offer a new type of vehicle offering high cross-country capabilities and maneuverability in swamp and snow terrain.
The U.S. Navy continues integration and testing of the first Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS), designated the APS-154, aboard the P-8A Poseidon. Testing will confirm the ability of the P-8A and AAS to operate safely and efficiently. Successful testing of AAS on the P-8A is a significant milestone enabling production decisions and leading up to the initial deployment of AAS.
Terma will introduce their latest naval surveillance radar product, the SCANTER 2600, at the Surface Navy Association’s (SNA) National Symposium in Arlington, VA on 12-14 January 2016.
The Admiralty Wharves Shipyard (JSC "Admiralty Shipyards"), part of Russia’s United Ship-Building Corporation (OSK), is planning to deliver seven submarines and an icebreaker to Russian and foreign customers by 2018, Shipyard CEO Alexander Buzakov told TASS on Wednesday.
The 2016 Ukrainian defense budget allocates the equivalent of just over USD 4 billion to the entire defence and security sector next year. Next year Ukrainian government plans to purchase advanced radar systems, surveillance drones and ground-to-air defence systems to strengthen security in the skies.

The Indian Navy achieved a significant milestone in enhancing its Anti Air Warfare capability with the maiden firing of its newly developed Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LR SAM). The firing was undertaken on 29 and 30th Dec 15 on the Western Seaboard by INS Kolkata, wherein the missile successesfully intercepted an Aerial Target at extended ranges.
Syrian troops backed by heavy aerial bombardment pushed toward a strategic town in the southern province of Deraa on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 after capturing a nearby military base, the army said.

Small-deck ships such as destroyers and frigates could greatly increase their effectiveness if they had their own unmanned air systems (UASs) to provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and other capabilities at long range around the clock. Current state-of-the-art UASs, however, lack the ability to take off and land from confined spaces in rough seas and achieve efficient long-duration flight. Tern, a joint program between DARPA and the U.S. Navy’s Office of Naval Research (ONR), seeks to provide these and other previously unattainable capabilities. As part of Tern’s ongoing progress toward that goal, DARPA has awarded Phase 3 of Tern to a team led by the Northrop Grumman Corporation.
The Polish Defense Ministry signed a contract to modernise 128 Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks used by the Polish army. Poland’s original set of 128 Leopard 2A4 tanks were bought and transferred in the mid-2000s. Poland also purchased a total of 105 Leopard 2A5.

U.S. Navy strike aircraft from nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) flew their first missions in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), the fight to destroy the ISIL terrorist organization, Dec. 29. Truman and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7 join French nuclear powered aircraft carrier FS Charles De Gaulle (R 91) in conducting combined combat operations in Iraq and Syria from the Arabian Gulf.

Russia's Rostec will form a joint venture with the Indian company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for manufacturing Kamov Ka-226T military helicopters in India. During Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Russia visit an agreement was signed between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India on cooperation in the field of helicopter manufacturing. The document was signed in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 2nd Airbus A400m military airlifter ordered for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) landed today at Subang airbase, escorted by two MiG-29 fighter jets. The aircraft, numbered M-54-02, is the second on a batch of four A400M airlifters ordered in 2005.

The State Company Ukroboronprom Corporation and a Polish company will cooperate to develop two self-propelled artillery systems mounted on Ukraine-made T-84 Oplot main batle tank chassis, Ukrinform reports Dec. 28. State Concern "Ukroboronprom" was created in 2010 for management of the Ukrainian enterprises of the military-industrial complex.

The Russian Navy Northern Fleet’s separate Arctic brigade has taken delivery of advanced DT-10PM tracked all-terrain vehicles and A-1 snowmobiles, the fleet’s press office told TASS on Tuesday, December 29, 2015.

KAI, or Korea Aerospace Industries, Inc. announced today it has completed the development of the amphibious variant of its Surion transport helicopter, which will help enhance the range of operation and mobility for the ROK Marine Corps, specifically from ROK Navy Dokdo class LPH.
The Russian Navy has received the eighth Project 03160 patrol boat Raptor, Navy spokesman Captain 1st Rank Igor Dygalo said on Monday. The Project 03160 patrol boat Raptor is the last vessel in the series built by the Pella Shipyard in the Leningrad Region in northwest Russia, he added.

The Republic of Korea (ROK or South Korea) Navy unveiled a new naval base on the southern resort island of Jeju. Jeju island is strategically located in a sea passage connecting the East China Sea and the Sea of Japan (East Sea) in the northwest Pacific Ocean. The 7,600-ton KDX-III Aegis Destroyer Yulgok Yi arrived on December 22 to the "Jeju civil-military sea port base" (the official designation of the base) ahead of its official launch scheduled for January.
The Russian S-400 Triumf (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) air defense missile system has gone on combat duty at the Hmeimim airbase in Syria, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in November 2015.
Russia is developing Tuf-MA and Tuf-M2 communication systems for its S-400, S-500 and Vityaz air missile defense systems. The new system will have the possibility of high-frequency tuning for electronic reconnaissance, equipping the defense missiles systems with a higher potential to evade enemy surveillance.

The United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK) will have the technological capabilities to build helicopter carriers and aircraft carriers starting from early 2019, OSK Director General Alexei Rakhmanov has told the Russia 24 TV broadcaster in an interview. "We will be prepared for helicopter carrier construction just like we are prepared for building aircraft carriers," he said.
The Russian company Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern (KRET), subsidiary of Rostec state corporation, has submitted to the Russian armed forces the first batch of Vitebsk electronic warfare systems adapted to military transport aircraft, the Concern’s deputy director general Igor Nasenkov has reported.

The U.S. Navy announced the future littoral combat ships USS Detroit (LCS 7) and USS Montgomery (LCS 8) are scheduled to be homeported at Naval Base San Diego following their commissioning in summer 2016.
Pakistan is in negotiations with the US to procure the latest F-16 fighter jets in order to phase out some of its old combat aircraft by 2020, including Mirage, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman said today. "We are in talks with US defence officials to get some latest F-16s but the deal may take some time," the Air chief told reporters after the rolling out ceremony of the 16th JF-17 Thunder aircraft at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra.

The Iraqi city of Ramadi has been "liberated" from Isis militants, according to a military spokesman. Iraq's counter-terrorism forces raised the Iraqi flag above the central government complex in the western city, a day after the army declared victory over Isis fighters there.

NATO will temporarily relocate Boeing E-3A Sentry airborne early warning and control aircraft (AWACS) in Turkey as part of its air defense package to the country amid the Syrian crisis, media reported. The deployment of the military planes will be carried out by the German armed forces.

Russia's defense industry recently announced the creation of a new missile. According to military expert Igor Korotchenko, the announcement was careful to conceal the new missile's specifications. Russia's new missile for the Iskander-M launcher, said to have been completed on Friday, has some secret characteristics, weapons expert Igor Korotchenko told Sputnik.

South Korea's arms procurement agency (DAPA) inked Monday its formal agreement with the country's sole aircraft maker, Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. The test trials of the air-launched variant of the BrahMos anti-ship cruise missile that were due to begin in March 2016 have slipped to mid-2016. According to the Times of India daily the reason is the missile launch unit has not been certificated yet.
Elbit Systems announced today that it was awarded a contract by the Directorate of Production and Procurement of the Israeli Ministry of Defense ("IMOD") valued at approximately $70 million for the supply of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. According to pictures released on Chinese specialized websites, the first low rate initial production (LRIP) version of the Chengdu J-20 5th-gen fighter aircraft, numbered 2101, made its first appearance at Chengdu State Aircraft Factory No.132 Aircraft Plant. On December 25th, several official Chinese media (including CCTV 13 and CNTV) aired a TV report on the visit of the Commander of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) and the political commissar aboard China's aircraft carrier Liaoning (hull number 16). China Network Television (CNTV) then released some HD b-rolls that were filmed during the visit. It is the first time such high quality footage about the PLAN's carrier operations are released.
