The Royal Thai Army orders six Airbus Helicopters' EC 145 light utility helicopters

A further addition to the Royal Thai Army’s rotorcraft fleet has been committed with the acquisition of six Airbus Helicopters light-utility EC145 T2, which is the newest and most powerful model in Airbus Helicopters’ proven EC145 light twin-engine helicopter family, the helicopter manufacturer announced on February 23.

United Arab Emirates announce purchase of two C-17 airlifters and nine AW139 helicopters

The United Arab Emirates aerial capabilities will be soon improved thanks to two massive sales announced at the occasion of the International Defense Exhibition, which was held in Abu Dhabi until today, February 26. Two Boeing C-17 Globemaster III large military transport aircraft and nine AgustaWestland's AW139 helicopters have been purchased this week by the UAE.

Northrop Grumman's digital cockpit solution for future UH-60V Black Hawk showcased at IDEX 2015

As part of an array of global defence capabilities, Northrop Grumman showcased its digital cockpit solution at IDEX 2015. Northrop Grumman is a premier provider of an open architecture based cockpit design that can be easily customized for the needs of customers around the globe. The company is already under contract and implementing its avionics solution for a digital cockpit upgrade for the U.S. Army's UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters. The newly upgraded aircraft will be designated the UH-60V.

During IDEX 2015, German vehicles manufacturer Mercedes-Benz showcased a new variant of its Zetros 4x4 off-road truck especially dedicated to help in frontline airstrips logistic. The Zetros 1833A 4x4 employs proven engineering and technology from the area of volume production , and has been optimised for deployment on rough tracks and off-road use.

New 8x8 armored vehicle Enigma unveiled at IDEX 2015

The Enigma 8x8, displayed on the Emirates Defense Technology’s (EDT) stand for the duration of IDEX, provides high-levels of protection, heavy weapons systems, amphibious capabilities, an unrivaled spacious interior that can accommodate 11 personnel, all without compromising the 28-ton vehicle’s mobility.

Once again, Sudan's Military Industry Corporation comes to IDEX 2015, which is held in Abu Dhabi until tommorow, with a large range of novel weapons and military vehicles. Among them, Sudanese corporation MIC decided to display for the first time a full-scale model of the Khalifa-1 GHY02 122mm self-propelled howitzer.

New details on the PRIVINVEST / CMN upgraded Combattante BR 71 (Baynunah class) Mk II Corvette

Raytheon's new AMRAAM Extended Range missile project showcased at IDEX 2015

Raytheon Company has chosen IDEX 2015 to display for the first time an improved variant of its AMRAAM missile, the AMRAAM Extended Range. The US-based company has begun development on an extended range variant of the combat-proven Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile (AMRAAM®). Designed specifically for ground-based air defense, AMRAAM-ER will enable intercepts at longer range and higher altitudes.

BAE SYSTEMS DELIVERS FIRST OF 144 CV90S TO NORWAY

BAE Systems has handed over the first CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) in serial production to the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (FLO) on time and on budget. BAE Systems Hägglunds’ contract, signed in 2012, includes the upgrade of the Norwegian Army’s existing fleet of 103 CV9030s and 41 new-build vehicles, giving the Army a total of 144 state-of-the-art CV90s in varying configurations.




Terma and Lockheed Martin announce partnership to field critical infrastructure protection system

Terma and Lockheed Martin announced during IDEX 2015 that they are partnering to field Terma’s Critical Infrastructure Protection System – T.react CIP – at the Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training (MST) facility in Owego, New York. The system has been installed as an integral part of the existing security systems at the facility and thus provides the Lockheed Martin security staff with an enhanced surveillance system.

Hellfire Systems foreign military sale contract to produce 2,060 Hellfire II air-to-ground missiles

The US Department of Defense announced today it has awarded Hellfire Systems LLC a $144,044,911 foreign military sales contract (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Australia) to exercise option for FY 14 Hellfire II Missile production requirement. Estimated completion date is Nov. 30, 2016. Hellfire Systems will produce 2,060 Hellfire II tactical missiles in containers, Air-to Ground (AGM) missiles model AGM-114R, AGM-114R-3, AGM-114P-4A, ATM-114Q-6 and AGM-114R-5. Work will be performed Orlando, Florida. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

The Estonian company ELI Military Simulations showcases its SWAN III UAV at IDEX 2015

The SWAN III is the third generation UAV platform from ELI Airborne Solutions. The system consists of two main parts - autonomous air vehicle and the human operated ground segment – Ground Control Station. UAV SWAN III is a multi-purpose UAV system that can be used in various scenarios. On ELI's booth at IDEX 2015, a SWAN III is installed on its catapult.



CMI Defence unveils for the first time its CPWS 30 mm turret on a Textron Commando

The Cockerill CPWS 20-25-30 is a family of light medium-calibre protected weapon stations. At IDEX 2015, CMI (Cockerill Maintenance & Ingénierie) Defence presents this weapons system, 30 mm cannon version, on a TEXTRON System Commando vehicle. This is not the first time CMI installed one of its products on a TEXTRON vehicle.

Zala Aero Group proposes the ZALA 421-08M UAV at IDEX 2015

ZALA Aero Group, a Russian developer of unmanned aerial vehicle recently purchased by Kalashnikov Concern, is, for the first time, exhibiting its UAV system ZALA 421-08M, a man-portable UAV.




SIHAM AL KHALEEJ TECHNOLOGY, MBDA & GEM present their coastal defence system at IDEX 2015

At IDEX 2015, the UAE company Siham Al Khaleej Technology (SAKT), together with the European MBDA and the Italian GEM Elettronica is presenting an innovative and cost-effective coastal battery system. This cooperation is part of an Head of Agreement signed during 2013 Dubai Air Show that sees SAKT as the prime contractor and system integrator, MBDA as the supplier of the launchers and the launching systems for the Marte family missile, and GEM as the coastal battery remote station system supplier.

Video - Thales Latest Sonar Solutions at NAVDEX 2015: SeeMapper, Captas-1 & BlueWatcher

At NAVDEX 2015 naval defense exhibition currently held in Abu Dhabi, Thales is showcasing its latest sonar solutions:
- The SeeMapper, a turnkey system providing continuous, high-resolution mapping of the sea-bed using a towed synthetic aperture sonar.
- The BlueWatcher hull-mounted sonar and its associated towed array sonar, the Captas-1, represent a new range of compact sonars for surface combatants and patrol vessels displacing 300 tonnes or more. 

During IDEX 2015, Airbus announces qualification of its aerial target DO-DT25

Airbus Defence and Space Direct Aerial Targets have played a key role in the qualification of the full performance of a surface-to-air missile (SAM) system being developed as part of the German Air and Missile Defence System. During the trials conducted for the German Government end of January at the Overberg Test Range in South-Africa, the Direct Aerial Targets performed flawlessly in a series of engagements with the SAM system.





Eurofighter signs contract to deliver new enhancements to the Typhoon fighter aircraft

Eurofighter has released details of a new capability contract valued at $227 million delivering a suite of new enhancements to the Eurofighter Typhoon. As well as introducing a number of upgrades to the Eurofighter’s mission and maintenance systems, the contract, known as Phase 3 Capability Enhancement, will equip the Eurofighter Typhoon to deploy multiple precision-guided air-to-surface weapons at fast-moving targets with low-collateral damage.

Raytheon and NIMR will integrate TALON laser guided rockets onto UAE ground vehicle

A lot of news arrive from IDEX 2015. Raytheon Company and NIMR Automotive, part of the Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC), are collaborating to equip NIMR armored vehicles with TALON™ Laser Guided Rockets. Using the Raytheon remote weapons station, each vehicle will carry 16 TALON LGRs.

Kalashnikov Group showcases its KS-K shotgun at IDEX 2015

The 12 gauge 18.5 mm multipurpose self-loading shotgun KS-K is designed for self-defense, security and Law Enforcement units. The 18.5 KS-K shotgun is similar to AK assault rifle in its layout. The shotgun has the minimal number of parts and can be easily assembled and dismantled. All that makes the gun easy to operate and maintain and facilitates the training of shooters.



NIMR introduces its AJBAN ISV at IDEX 2015

The AJBAN ISV (Internal Security Vehicle) is designed to provide a fast, safe deployment of a non-lethal means of controlling and dispersing potentially violent crowd gatherings, whilst protecting the safety of both the vehicle's crew and demonstrators.




Thales Scorpion Automated Mortar Platform presented at IDEX 2015

Scorpion, or the Automated Mortar and Rocket Fire Control System (AMRFCS). is a self-contained motorized mortar and rocket application, capable of observation, mortar and rocketlaying. Mounted on a single palletised platform, it fires from the back of a vehicle in less than 15 seconds. This is made possible through ballistic calculations, orientation methods and recoil absorption.

The first warship model fully manufactured by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) "Baynunah" – is, today, kick-starting the 'Ship of the Day' series taking place this week as part of the third edition of NAVDEX, the maritime security show that has quickly become the largest naval defence exhibition in the region, alongside IDEX - the world's leading joint defence exhibition. Unveiled this week at IDEX 2015 in Abu Dhabi by Bogdan Corporation, the Bars-6 (“Panther”) is the armoured personnel carrier variant of the Bars multi-functional light armoured vehicle. Totally manufactured in Ukraine by Bogdan Corporation, this new all-wheel drive car is intended to be used for tactical tasks, patrolling the border, protecting roadblocks and conducting military operations in urban areas. Oto Melara Unveils the new Forty Light naval gun system At IDEX 2015

At IDEX 2015 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, Italian company Oto Melara unveiled a new 40mm naval gun system weighting just below two tons. Thanks to its extremely reduced mass, small dimension, easy installation (no deck penetration required), modern and completely digital technology, Oto Melara believes the Forty Light will play a leading role as a 40mm naval system.

Doosan DST presents new Chun Mu multiple launch rocket system at IDEX 2015

South Korean company Doosan DST chose IDEX 2015 to present its new multiple rocket and missile launcher system, the Chun Mu. The Chun-Mu is a new multiple rocket launcher system offering physical strike with high rate and suppression against ground attacks. Having high mobile tactical wheeled platform, fire control system and joint fire networks, the launcher system can be quickly moved and deployed to provide maximum fire power in a short period.

Selex ES showcases enhanced imaging solution with its Horizon SD/HD infrared camera

Selex ES exhibits for the first time at IDEX 2015 in Abu Dhabi its new Infrared camera Horizon HD.
