Fincantieri reveals its new PPA patrol ship at EURONAVAL 2014

Fincantieri PPA (Pattugliatore Polivalente D’Altura), Offshore Polyvalent Patrol, is first revealed at EURONAVAL 2014. The vessel can perform a wide range of offshore patrolling missions thanks to its inovative modular sections conception. PPA have been chosen by Italian Navy for the replacement program of Italian corvettes, patrol vessels and Durand de la Penne destroyers.

United States Army researchers are evaluating prototype devices of futuristic soft exosuit developed for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, known as DARPA, Warrior Web program's goal is to create a soft, lightweight undersuit to help reduce injuries and fatigue, while improving mission performance. Seventh Armoured Brigade of Israeli army will be equipped with Merkava IV Trophy tanks.

The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Seventh Armoured brigade is in the midst of a modernization process that will see all tank battalions equipped with the Merkava Mark IV tank by 2016, a senior army source said Tuesday, October 28, 2014. The seventh brigade’s Fourth Battalion is an engineering corps unit, and the brigade is also supplemented by a specialized infantry company that travels in armored vehicles.

Cooperation agreement between DCNS and Airbus Defence and Space for the TANAN UAS

As part of the 2014 Euronaval exhibition, Airbus Defence and Space and DCNS signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday 28 October 2014 in Paris to develop a ship-based helicopter UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) capability. This technological partnership will help to speed up the market release of the TANAN vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) tactical helicopter UAS, as it takes into account the naval sector’s requirements and the aircraft’s efficient integration onto all types of armed vessels from the outset.
