Oshkosh Defense is working on a deal with Saudi Arabia for the sale of M-ATV MRAP vehicles.

The U.S. Company Oshkosh Defense is working on a deal with Saudi Arabia for an undisclosed number of the lighter M-ATV MRAPs, company officials here said. Since the potential Saudi deal is still in its early stages, John Bryant, senior vice president of defense programs for the company, said he could not provide any additional details, though he does expect announcements to be made by the end of the year.

The Russian Defense Company Uralvagonzavod has unveiled its new tank support armoured fighting vehicle BMPT-72 or Terminator-2 at the defense exhibition RAE 2013 (Russian Arms Expo) at Nizhny Tagil in Russia. U.N. Security Council has voted unanimously to secure and destroy chemical weapons in Syria.

The UN Security Council (UNSC) has voted unanimously to secure and destroy Syria's chemical weapons stockpile. The vote late on Friday, September 27, 2013, was the first resolution passed on the Syrian conflict since it began in March 2011, after Russia and China had previously vetoed three Western-backed resolutions pressuring President Bashar Assad's regime to end the violence.

Turkey has selected officially Chinese FD-2000 as new air defense missile system for its armed forces

NATO member Turkey has chosen a Chinese defence firm to co-produce a US$4 billion long-range air and missile defence system FD-2000, rejecting rival bids from Russian, US and European firms. The Turkish defence minister announced the decision to award the contract to China Precision Machinery Import and Export Corp (CPMIEC) in a statement on Thursday, September 26, 2013.

Iran has developed a new anti-radar missile system called Yavar Project.

Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli announced on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, that Iran has developed a system, called 'Yavar Project', which is capable of diverting and destroying anti-radar missiles. The BAE Systems RG-31 Agrab 120mm 4x4 mortar carrier vehicle to be produced in UAE.

According to a contract between the UAE-based International Golden Group (IGG) and BAE Land Systems on December 2011, the Agrab RG31 armoured utility vehicles are to be produced by the UAE as early as next year.

Ten Russian BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, the first part of an order made by the Qaddafi regime, have been handed over to the Libyan army. The handover ceremony took place at Mitiga Air Base. Indonesia takes delivery of first Leopard 2A4 tanks and Marder armoured vehicles from Germany.

The Indonesian Army has had its new primary weapons defense system expanded after receiving four German-manufactured tanks, namely two Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks and two Marder tracked armoured infantry fighting vehicles. “Two Leopard tanks and two Marder infantry fighting vehicles have arrived,” said Army chief of staff Lt. “Vikramaditya” Aircraft Carrier to be Delivered to Indian Navy in November

A Russian-built aircraft carrier is to be handed over to the Indian Navy on November 15, and will reach India by February 2014, a senior official at the Russian arms exports monopoly said Wednesday. The Vikramaditya carrier, which is already years past its original 2008 delivery date, was supposed to have been handed over to India in December 2012, but last year’s sea trials revealed that the vessel's boilers were not fully functional.

General Dynamics awarded a contract for M1A2S main battle tanks conversion of Saudi Arabia.

General Dynamics Land Systems has been awarded $187.5 million for conversion of 44 M1A1 and 40 M1A2 Abrams tanks to the Saudi M1A2 (M1A2S) configuration for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. U.S. ready for military strike on Syria if Damascus does not abide plan on chemical weapons.

Kongsberg to Supply MINESNIPER Mk III Mine Disposal Weapon System to Royal Norwegian Navy

Kongsberg Defence Systems (KONGSBERG) has signed a contract for supply of the MINESNIPER Mk III One Shot Mine Disposal Weapon System to the Royal Norwegian Navy. The B-1B Lancer may have made its name supporting ground troops and destroying land-based targets, but the Air Force is now developing tactics for using the aircraft over the ocean. The Defence Acquisitions Council of India’s Defence Ministry has approved the manufacture under Russian license of 235 T-90 tanks in India, “The Times of India” reported on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. An Indian ministry source said a contract for production worth 60 billion rupees - about $1 billion - would be published soon.

Lockheed Martin Successfully Launches First LRASM Boosted Test Vehicle From MK 41 VLS

Lockheed Martin successfully launched the first Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) Boosted Test Vehicle (BTV) from a MK 41 Vertical Launch System (VLS) canister at White Sands Missile Range, N.M. During the company-funded test, the MK41 VLS successfully launched the LRASM BTV. The BTV, which includes the proven Vertical Launch Anti-Submarine Rocket (VL/ASROC) Mk-114 rocket motor, ignited successfully, penetrated and exited through the canister cover and performed a guided flight profile similar to a tactical configuration.

Russian Navy planning to fit its vessels with naval versions of Pantsir and TOR air defense systems

According to industry sources, naval variants of the Pantsir and TOR-M2 short-range air defense systems will enter service with the Russian Navy in about two years. “The Defense Ministry showed great interest in the naval variant of the Pantsir. It has been decided that several destroyers and other large warships will be modernized to accommodate the system,” said Dmitry Konoplev, managing director of the KBP Instrument Design Bureau.

Singapore Armed Forces will buy the MBDA Aster-30 surface-to-air defense missile system.

The Singapore Armed Forces will buy a new MBDA Aster-30 surface-to-air missile system, to boost Singapore's air defence shield. Announcing the acquisition on Monday, September 16, 2013, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said advanced militaries in France and Italy use the new system, which is "many times more potent" than the current I-Hawk ground-based air defence system.

American company STIDD Systems introduced the new DPD Capsule during DSEI 2013, the International Defence & Security event in London, United Kingdom. The DPD Capsule is a low-drag, cargo trailer that combat divers can tow underwater during their missions using the existing STIDD Diver Propulsion Device (DPD) already in use with several naval special forces units around the world.

MBDA adds Brimstone Anti-FIAC Capability to CWSP Naval Warfare Solution

In 2010, MBDA launched CWSP (Compact Warfare System Package) to provide fast patrol boats and logistics ships with an integrated combat system for both self-defence and the means to secure sensitive coastal zones. In this respect, CWSP’s common architecture has up to now incorporated MBDA’s automated, twin turret Mistral missile SIMBAD-RC air defence system and a twin launcher Marte Mk2/N missile system for the anti-ship role. However, in recognition of the growing complexity of operations in the littoral, MBDA is now offering CWSP with an additional capability, namely that provided by Brimstone to counter agile high speed craft operating in potentially large numbers often in well co-ordinated formations. These Fast Inshore Attack Craft (FIAC), when operating together, can overwhelm the defences of well armed naval craft equipped with medium calibre gun systems.

A new version of the BMPT, the Terminator 2, a multipurpose tank and infantry support vehicle, will make its debut Sept. 25 at the Russia EXPO Arms 2013 in Nizhny Tagil.
